Land grant, 1811, 1814.

Land grant to St. Obin, for 139 78/100 acres of land, located near Joseph Campeau's land and Lake St. Clair, on the Huron River in Michigan Territory, signed by Pres. James Madison and James Monroe, Secretary of State on July 10, 1811. The grant is printed with additional information added in handwriting. The grant is made of vellum. On the back are two notes: 1) "granted to St. Obin and record in v. 8, page 254," and 2) "Territory of Michigan, district of Detroit, St. Obin for $12 sold land to Antoine Chapoton on Oct. 1, 1814," signed by the mark of St. Obin. The grant was delivered to and signed by Peter Audrain, who marked it with his seal as Justice of the Peace for the District of Detroit, Oct. 1, 1814.
